Role:
Doctor Jackie MacArthur is the Senior Scientific Service Development Manager at the BHF Data Science Centre.
Jackie leads the development of new user-centred data infrastructure and services for the cardiovascular and metabolic research community. This role involves distilling, prioritising, and translating complex user requirements into high-quality, efficient, and scalable data services that enable cutting-edge research across the UK.
Credentials:
Prior to joining HDR UK in January 2021, Jackie served as the Project Leader for the GWAS Catalog at EMBL-EBI, where she was responsible for strategic planning, coordination, and managing the Catalog’s development. Her experience in overseeing complex data resources, developing reporting standards for genomic studies, and promoting data sharing directly informs her current work in ensuring trustworthy, accessible, and high-quality health data services.
Jackie has a scientific background, including a PhD in human genetics from Nottingham University and over nine years of research experience studying human genetic variation and its contribution to disease at institutions such as the Sanger Institute and University of California San Francisco.
